On this edition of All Songs Considered:

Sigur Rós celebrates its magnificent 2002 release with a newly remastered edition that includes unreleased tracks. It was an album that offered calm in a world fresh from the 911 attacks and other horrific events. Today, this third album from Sigur Rós feels as calming and necessary as it did all those years ago.

I also play some upbeat, danceable music from the Ghana-born and now Portland-based musician Okaidja Afroso.
We also hear music born in the days of COVID from Lydia Ramsey from her new album Like A Dream. Samia has a cathartic song aimed at a former lover and Icelandic musician JFDR has a gorgeous track inspired by an orchid.

PLAYLIST:

1. Okaidja Afroso: “Gidi Gidi,” from Jaku Mumor

2. Lydia Ramsey: “Revival,” from Like A Dream

4. JFDR: “The Orchid” (Single)

5. Sigur Rós: “Untitled #7 (Jacobs Studio Sessions),” from ( ) Remastered
